We invited the people of a different faith for dinner. I love cooking. There is no better way I think to show and welcome someone into my home than by breaking bread and sharing a meal.
Faith is such an essential part of my life. I am proud to be a Muslim, and this is something that I practice every day, and I hold it near and dear to my heart.
I cried when heard Donald trump calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States during the presidential campaign. I was like oh my gosh i can't believe this is happening. I was feeling like I needed to do something because I was kind of feeling helpless while watching the news and all of the things that were being said about Muslims and American Muslims.
I wanted to create my own platform to share my experiences. I shared this idea to my stop-in husband. He agreed. We took the bold step and opened up the home to a total stranger. We invited the people of a different faith for dinner. I love cooking. There is no better way I think to show and welcome someone into my home than by breaking bread and sharing a meal. We reached out to our black brothers and sisters to make sure that they're represented, our Christian brothers and sisters our Jewish brothers and sisters someone from the LGBTQ community just so that we have the opportunity to hear their experiences and we can share and learn from one another. The meal starts with a prayer ''bismillahI ar-rahmanI ar-rahim'' in the name of God the beneficent the merciful. Watch the video of Amanda Saab
