Sometimes we feel overwhelmed with everything going around in our lives. We cannot go on and seek refuge in keeping distance between us and everybody around. We enclose ourselves in our own bubble and withdraw from our everyday life, our friend, the activities we used to do. And we keep seeking comfort and rest.
Ameena Blake talks in this video about the seclusion of Maryam, the mother of Prophet Isa, Alayhm As-salam, and how after conceiving the christ she withdrew herself from society and went to a remote place to give birth away from everybody. She kept a distance and shut the whole world out, and she faced alone all the pain of labour and the heaviness of the situation that she has been put in. She was so desperate that she reached a level of wishing to die and be far forgotten before any of that happened. And while she is at this point, the comfort and rest came from the best source ever, from the merciful god. Allah calmed her and asked her to “cool your eyes” from the warmth of crying and tears. And what better message can a human get from his god in the time of distress!
