Dr. Yasir Qadhi in this virtual Khutba explains that the goal of fasting is not the fasting itself. There is a higher cause for fasting with a tremendous and marvellous result.
The holy month of Ramadan comes to the Muslims with many lessons to give. In Ramadan, we perform fasting from dawn to sunset. But this fasting is not for our bodies by quitting just food and drinks, and we also train our souls to abandon all that is not just and right. In the holy Quran, we learned that the purpose of fasting is to achieve taqwa. And that Ramadan is prescribed to Muslims to teach them taqwa and raise its levels.
Dr. Yasir Qadhi in this virtual Khutba explains that the goal of fasting is not the fasting itself. There is a higher cause for fasting with a tremendous and marvellous result. And goes on telling us the key factors of how fasting inculcates taqwa and what it is about fasting that makes us feel more spiritual and causes us to be conscious of Allah - Subhanahu w Ta’ala. Fasting teaches us and helps us to train our sincerity (Ikhlas) because no one can monitor the fasting of others. It is a private act of worship between Allah and his slaves, and only the person himself can stick to it and be sincere about it for the sake of Allah.
