Comfort in Times of Crisis - Mufti Menk

We thrive for any shred of hope to hold on to, and we wait for rescue boat to take us to the shore of safety and settlement. But as Muslims, we have a great source of comfort and a beacon of relief.

In times of distress and discomfort we always feel down and depressed. We seek comfort and contentment and try to search for it in every place around us. We thrive for any shred of hope to hold on to, and we wait for any rescue boat to take us to the shore of safety and settlement. But as Muslims, we have a great source of comfort and a beacon of relief.

Mufti Menk encourages us to go through the pages of our holy Quran and look at the revelation and look at how his almighty Allah has guided us to achieve the comfort we need in the times of pain and anxiety. He reminds us that there is a real contentment in the holy Quran itself. Menk says that even the first line in the opening chapter of the Quran is “in the name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Merciful” is something that we use when we commence anything, not just Quran, and how reciting it gives us comfort. And how in this sentence that Allah wanted us to repeat and say, again and again, there lie two of God’ almighty qualities that he wanted us to recite over and over. Shaykh Menk goes on with explaining more about how to achieve comfort in times of crisis through Allah’s words.
